The Phoenix Frequencies

Episode 13 People pleasing as Self-protection

Season 3 Episode 13

What if we can see people pleasing as a smart protection mechanism rather than a weak character? With the sugarcoated behaviour, it's a way to feel and stay emotionally safe. Often learned by painful life experiences. It looks good, it feels better than reality. Like a painkiller. But what are you suppressing and at what cost? Health, relationships and feeling drained......
Nienke grew up in a people-pleasing environment and found her way out: cold turkey. She found out that what she wanted and searched for wasn't what she needed. People pleasing isn't an identity; it's a survival mode you can change.
Like changing your diet and setting yourself free.

We are all responsible for how we show up in the world, to others, ánd to ourselves. With Phoenix Frequencies, Nienke van Bezooijen shines her light on what we can do to be the best versions of ourselves based on how we show up and what we are willing to learn. It isn't about showing the way with pretended positivity, it is the heart-based vulnerability-sharing options. It takes courage to rise. See what is for you. Or share with others. Perfect doesn't exist; curiosity can be the stepping stone to broaden your perspectives.

Courage to move on from the past,
Trust to be with the present,
Rise to create a new future.
